1. Rinse the red lentils under cold water until the water runs clear. 2. In a saucepan, heat the oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onions and sauté until golden brown. 3. Add the minced garlic and grated ginger. Sauté for an additional 1-2 minutes until fragrant. 4. Stir in the lal mirch, salt, and garam masala, mixing well. 5. Add the rinsed lentils and water. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and simmer for about 20 minutes, or until the lentils are tender. 6. Adjust seasoning as needed and serve warm.
