Classic Baklava

End your meal on a sweet note with this rich and flaky pastry made from layers of phyllo dough, filled with chopped nuts and sweetened with honey syrup. A traditional Mediterranean dessert that’s simply irresistible.

Steps

1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). 2. In a bowl, mix the chopped walnuts, pistachios, and sugar. 3. Place one sheet of phyllo dough on a clean surface and brush it with melted butter. 4. Place the second sheet on top and brush with more butter. 5. Sprinkle half of the nut mixture over the dough. 6. Fold the phyllo dough over the nuts and brush with butter again. 7. Roll the dough into a tight cylinder and place it in a greased baking dish. 8. Repeat with the remaining phyllo and nut mixture to create a second roll. 9. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown. 10. In a saucepan, combine honey and water; bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes. 11. Once the baklava is done, pour the honey syrup over it while still hot. Allow to cool before serving.
