
Steps
- In a bowl, mix together flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In another bowl, whisk together milk, egg yolk, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
- Combine wet and dry ingredients until just mixed; dough will be sticky.
- On a floured surface, knead the dough gently for about 1 minute, then shape into a ball.
- Roll out to about 1/2 inch thick and cut out circles using a cookie cutter.
- Heat oil in a deep pan over medium heat. Fry each donut until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.
- Remove and drain on paper towels.
- Whip heavy cream with powdered sugar until soft peaks form.
- Use a piping bag to fill each donut with the whipped cream.
- Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
