Spicy Tomato Rice

A healthy and flavorful Indian main dish made with garlic, ginger, onions, and tomatoes, served with fragrant rice.

Steps

1. Rinse the basmati rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Cook the rice according to package instructions and set aside. 2. Heat the vegetable oil in a large pan over medium heat. Add the cumin seeds and cook until they start to sizzle. 3. Add the chopped onion, minced garlic, and grated ginger to the pan. Sauté until the onion becomes translucent. 4. Add the chopped tomatoes, turmeric powder, chili powder, and salt to the pan. Cook for 5-7 minutes, until the tomatoes are soft and have released their juices. 5. Add the cooked basmati rice to the pan and mix well, ensuring all the rice is coated with the tomato mixture. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together. 6. Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve hot.
