Steps
1. Rinse the clams under cold water to remove any sand or grit.
2. In a skillet, heat the olive oil and butter over medium heat until melted.
3. Add the minced garlic and red pepper flakes (if using), sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.
4. Add the cleaned clams to the skillet, season with salt and pepper, and cover.
5. Cook for 5-7 minutes, shaking the pan occasionally, until the clams have opened.
6. Remove the skillet from heat, stir in the lemon juice and chopped parsley.
7. Serve immediately with crusty bread to soak up the delicious sauce.
