Steps

1. Rinse the jasmine rice under cold water until the water runs clear. 2. In a pot, combine the rinsed rice and water, bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer and cover. Cook for 15 minutes or until water is absorbed. 3. In a skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sliced chili, sauté until fragrant (about 1 minute). 4. Stir in the cooked rice, soy sauce, and fish sauce. Mix well and cook for another 2-3 minutes. 5. Add the fresh basil leaves and stir until wilted. Adjust salt if necessary. 6. (Optional) In a separate pan, fry an egg to serve on top of the rice. 7. Plate the spicy basil rice and top with the fried egg if using. Enjoy!
