Spicy Vegetable Biryani

A flavorful and aromatic Indian rice dish cooked with onions, peppers, tomatoes, and spices.

Steps

1. Rinse the basmati rice in cold water until the water runs clear. Soak the rice in water for 30 minutes, then drain. 2. Heat vegetable oil in a large pan over medium heat. Add cumin seeds and let them splutter. 3. Add sliced onions and sauté until they turn golden brown. 4. Add ginger-garlic paste and cook for a minute. 5. Add chopped bell pepper and cook for 2-3 minutes until slightly tender. 6. Add diced tomatoes, turmeric powder, garam masala, red chili powder, and salt. Mix well and cook for 5 minutes until tomatoes soften. 7. Add drained basmati rice to the pan and gently mix with the vegetable mixture. 8. Pour water over the rice and vegetables, cover the pan, and simmer for 15-20 minutes or until the rice is cooked and the water is absorbed. 9. Remove from heat and let it rest for 5 minutes before fluffing the rice with a fork. 10. Serve hot and enjoy!
