
Steps
- Start by toasting the slices of whole grain bread until golden brown.
- Spread the mayonnaise evenly on one side of each slice of bread.
- Layer the romaine lettuce on one slice of bread.
- Add the thinly sliced red onion over the lettuce.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- If desired, add slices of tomato or cucumber for extra flavor.
- Top with the second slice of bread, mayonnaise side down, and gently press.
- Cut the sandwich in half and serve immediately.
