
Steps
- In a large pot, melt the butter over medium heat.
- Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.
- Pour in the white wine and add the red pepper flakes, if using. Bring to a simmer.
- Add the cleaned mussels to the pot, cover, and steam for about 5-7 minutes, or until the mussels have opened up.
- Discard any mussels that do not open. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Serve hot, garnished with chopped parsley and lemon wedges on the side.
