
Steps
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
- In a saucepan, combine water, sugar, and lemon juice to make the syrup. Heat until the sugar dissolves, then set aside to cool.
- Melt the butter and mix it with the kataifi pastry, ensuring it is well coated.
- In a small baking dish, layer half of the kataifi pastry, then spread the cheese evenly on top.
- Top with the remaining kataifi pastry, pressing down gently.
- Bake in the oven for 15-20 minutes until golden and crispy.
- Once baked, remove from the oven and immediately pour the cooled syrup over the hot pastry.
- Allow it to soak for a few minutes, then garnish with crushed pistachios if desired.
