
Steps
- Place the beef stew meat in a bowl and season with fish sauce and garlic
- In a separate bowl, marinate the onion in 1/4 cup beef broth.
- In a large saucepan, over medium heat, heat up ½ cup of beef broth and add the marinated onions and shallot. Cook for 3-5 minutes.
- Add the remaining beef broth, followed by the stewed beef and seasonings. Increase the heat and bring the soup to a boil.
- Reduce the heat and allow to simmer for 15 minutes.
- Once the soup has cooked for 15 minutes, add the rice vermicelli and cook for an additional 3-5 minutes or until softened.
- Garnish with green onions, bean sprouts and Sriracha hot sauce (optional). Enjoy!

- 5 oz beef stew meat
- 1 ½ tbsp fish sauce
- 2 cloves garlic
- 1 shallot
- 3 ½ cups beef broth
- ½ cup thinly sliced onion
- 1 ½ cups rice vermicelli
- ¼ tsp ground star anise
- ¼ tsp ground cinnamon
- 1 tsp Sriracha hot sauce
- Soy sauce, to taste
- Chopped green onions, for garnish
- Bean sprouts, for garnish
