Steps
1. Start by dicing the apple into small cubes and set aside.
2. Season the chicken breast with salt and pepper on both sides.
3. In a skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chicken breast and cook for about 5-7 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through.
4. Remove the chicken from the skillet and let it rest on a plate.
5. In the same skillet, add the minced garlic and diced apple. Sauté for about 3-4 minutes until the apples are slightly softened.
6. Stir in the thyme and balsamic vinegar, allowing the mixture to simmer for an additional 2 minutes.
7. Return the chicken to the skillet, spooning the apple mixture over the top. Cook for another minute to heat through.
8. Garnish with chopped walnuts if desired, and serve warm.
