Steps
1. In a small saucepan, combine the milk, sugar, cornstarch, vanilla extract, and salt.
2. Whisk the mixture until well combined and smooth.
3. Place the saucepan over medium heat and cook, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens and comes to a gentle boil.
4. Once it reaches a boil, continue cooking for 1-2 minutes, stirring continuously.
5. Remove the saucepan from the heat and let the pudding cool for a few minutes.
6. Transfer the pudding to serving bowls or ramekins and refrigerate for at least 2 hours until set.
7. Serve chilled with your choice of optional toppings, such as fresh fruits or whipped cream.
