Steps
1. Peel the Asian pear, leaving the stem intact, and core the bottom if desired.
2. In a small saucepan, combine red wine, honey, lemon juice, ginger slice, and star anise.
3. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer over medium heat.
4. Add the pear to the simmering wine and poach for 15-20 minutes, turning occasionally until tender but not mushy.
5. Remove the pear and set aside.
6. Continue simmering the wine mixture until it reduces to a syrupy consistency, about 5-7 minutes.
7. Discard ginger and star anise.
8. Drizzle the reduced syrup over the poached pear and serve warm or chilled.
