Steps
1. Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
2. In a bowl, whisk the egg and sugar until pale and fluffy.
3. Gradually fold in the flour and a pinch of salt.
4. Add melted butter and milk, mix until smooth.
5. Pour batter into a small greased baking pan and bake for 12 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
6. While the sponge cools, whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form.
7. In a separate bowl, mix mascarpone, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.
8. Gently fold the whipped cream and chocolate chips into the mascarpone mixture.
9. Slice the cooled sponge horizontally into two layers.
10. Spread the stracciatella cream generously on one layer then place the second layer on top.
11. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving to set the cream.
