Steps
1. Peel and chop the potatoes into even-sized chunks.
2. Boil the potatoes in salted water for about 15 minutes, or until tender.
3. While the potatoes are boiling, in a small pan, melt the butter and sauté the minced garlic until fragrant.
4. Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot.
5. Add the sautéed garlic, heavy cream, salt, and pepper to the potatoes.
6. Mash everything together until smooth and creamy.
7. Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary.
8. Serve hot, garnished with chives if desired.
