Cuban Steak with Beans and Rice

This dish is a favorite meal at family gatherings in Cuban-American households. It is a hearty meal that combines steak with black beans, garlic-infused rice, and a medley of spices.

Steps

1. Mince two cloves of garlic. 2. Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. 3. Add steak to skillet and season with chili powder, cumin, oregano, turmeric, salt, and pepper. 4. Cook for 10 minutes flipping occasionally. 5. While steak is cooking, heat remaining 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a separate medium-sized pot. 6. Add garlic to pot and sauté for 2 minutes, stirring frequently. 7. Add white rice to pot and stir to coat with oil. 8. Pour in 1 can of black beans and enough water to cover the mixture. 9. Bring the mixture to a boil, reduce heat, and simmer for 15 minutes or until liquid is absorbed 10. When steak is cooked, serve it with beans and rice.
